Eastern extension line of Line 7 to open in 2019

All the nine stations of the extension line of Beijing metro Line 7 have been under construction, 40% of which has been preliminarily completed so far. The eastern extension line is estimated to open at the same time with the southern extension line of Batong Line in 2019, jointly serving Tongzhou district and “Universal Studios” theme park, said head of Beijing MTR Construction and Administration Corporation on Thursday, Beijing Daily reported on February 9, 2018.

The eastern extension line will start from Jiaohuachang Station, the east end of Line 7, and end at “Universal Studios” theme park Station in Tongzhou district.

The 16.6-kilometer-long underground extension line sets up a total of nine stations of Huangchangcun Station, Dougezhuang Station, Heizhuanghu Station, Wanshengnanjie west end Station, Yunjingdonglu Station, Xiaomazhuang Station, Gaoloujin Station, Shiyuan Station, and “Universal Studios” theme park Station, with an average inter-station distance of 1.86 kilometers.

The eastern extension line will serve the “Universal Studios” theme park project via linking “Universal Studios” theme park to external transport hubs.

At the same time, it will be a corridor of the city proper and southern part of Tongzhou New City, alleviating traffic pressure of Batong Line.

In addition, the line will also fuel the development of the function areas along it.

To support the constructions of “Universal Studios” theme park and the city’s subcenter, Beijing successively launched projects of the eastern extension line of Line 7 and the southern extension line of Batong Line in 2015 and 2016, which both end at “Universal Studios” theme park Station.
