It was known locally as Qing Dong Ling, are part of the Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties UNESCO World Heritage Site. The last imperial dynasty of China, the Qing Dynasty ruled from 1644 and 1911, during which time China’s borders expanded to their greatest capacity, encompassing modern-day Mongolia, Xinjiang, Tibet, Korea, Burma, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Surrounded by mountains, the Eastern Qing tomb complex stretches across 80 square kilometers, and serves as the final resting place of some of China’s best known emperors. Altogether, five emperors, 15 empresses, 136 imperial concubines, three princes, and two princesses of the Qing dynasty are buried in the tomb complex.
Later, drive about 160KM to visit the Little Potala Palace, the Palace was built in Qing Dynasty and it was a Buddhist temple complex. From 1767 to 1771, during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1735-1796), the Palace gained concerns from everywhere during its construction. It is located near the Chengde Summer Resort. Along with the equally famed Puning Temple, it is one of the Eight Outer Temples of Chengde. The temple was modeled after the Potala Palace of Tibet, the old sanctuary of the Dalai Lama built a century earlier. Hence the Putuo Zongsheng has been nicknamed the “Little Potala Palace”.
After the tour, you will be taken bac to your hotel in Chengde.
After breakfast, you will have chance to visit the most famous landmark Chengde Mountain Resort, or Chengde Summer Resort. The emperors in the Qing dynasty, such as Kangxi, Qianlong and Jiaqing often spent several months a year here to escape the summer heat in the capital city of Beijing and the palace zone in the southern part of the resort was therefore designed to resemble the Forbidden City in Beijing. It is a great place to spend your leisure time when you take Chengde tour from Beijing.
Next, you will visit the Puning Temple, which means " Temple of Unervisal Peace". It is a buddhist temple in Chengde. It was built in 1755 during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor in the Qing dynasty. It is near the Chengde Mountain Resort and alongside the equally famed Putuo Zongcheng Temple. Puning is one of the "Eight Outer Temples" of Chengde. As of 1994, the Chengde Mountain Resort and Chengde's Eight Outer Temples (including the Puning Temple) were established as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today, the Puning Temple remains a site of tourist attraction and local festivities.
