I shoot for a living so timing and light matter more to me than anything. I told my guide up front and he genuinely built the days around it, putting us on the Xi’an city wall near golden hour, the Forbidden City roofs early before the haze and crowds, and the Bund at blue hour. That kind of thinking is rare on a package that covers Shanghai, Xi’an and Beijing in eight days. Between shoots the meals were local and honest, one bowl of lamb noodles in Xi’an I still think about. Drivers were careful on late night transfers back from photo spots. Zero complaints, would repeat it with a longer wall stay.
Shanghai, Xi’an, Beijing in 8 days. Sounds packed but the pacing was spot-on. Two days each city plus travel days in between. Xi’an was the surprise highlight - Terracotta Warriors, city wall bike ride, Muslim Quarter food tour. Guide David in Xi’an was a foodie himself and took us to a biangbiang noodle shop that’s been family-run for three generations. Beijing guide Kevin was a history buff who made the Forbidden City feel like walking through a movie set. Drivers in all three cities were professional and vehicles were clean. High-speed trains between cities were comfortable and on time.
We had only eight days to visit three cities, but the tour was perfectly organized! The itinerary was full yet relaxed, and we never felt rushed. We visited all the main sights, and the guides were knowledgeable and took great photos for us. The driver made everything easy—no long walks, just smooth transfers between sites. The restaurants recommended were clean, tasty, and safe. We also had enough time to rest each night. Overall, a fantastic and stress-free way to see the highlights of China. Highly recommend!
