This is where Beijing’s residents come to select the freshest ingredients for their home-cooked meals, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to observe local shopping habits and culinary traditions. The final stop is Daoxiangcun Foodstuffs Store, a storied establishment with deep historical roots dating back to 1895 during the Qing Dynasty. Founded by Guo Yusheng, a talented food artisan from Nanjing, the original "Daoxiangcun Southern Foodstuff Shop" was set up near the Guanyin Temple outside of Qianmen. Known for its exceptional food preparation skills and savvy business acumen, Daoxiangcun has grown from its humble beginnings to become a culinary landmark in Beijing. Today, it boasts nearly a hundred stores across the city, alongside a central logistics hub and over 300 sales outlets. The store is renowned for its wide range of traditional Chinese delicacies, including renowned pastries and snacks, produced in the country’s largest and most advanced food production base.
